Have you renewed your APC?

Annual practising certificates (APCs) for dentists and dental specialists expired on Saturday 30 September 2017. Thank you to all practitioners who submitted their applications and payment on time.

If you have still not advised us of your practising intentions for 2017/18, please do so. The APC and retention renewal forms were posted to practitioners on 23 August and are also available to download at the above links. 

If you intend to practise at any time during this period, you are required by law to hold a current practising certificate. Before resuming practise, you must first submit your application form, including the workforce survey, and return it to the Council with your practising fee. 

Payment

If your employer is providing payment for your application, please be aware that your application will not be processed until payment has been received. Please liaise with your employer to ensure that this payment will be received prior to 30 September 2017.

Certificates of good standing

If you have practised overseas since you were last issued with an APC or were held on retention, you will need to arrange for an original certificate of good standing (COGS) which is no more than three months old to be forwarded to our offices in support of your application from each jurisdiction in which you have practised since your last APC. We cannot process your APC application until the COGS has been received.

Emergency care training certificate

If your current emergency care training certificate has expired, you will need to include confirmation of your enrolment in a new course from the course provider. Further details can be found in the medical emergencies practice standard.

Additional processing APC fee 

All late applications will be charged the additional processing APC fee of $45.00 (GST inclusive).

Legal responsibility

Practitioners are reminded that the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 requires every health practitioner practising in New Zealand to hold a current APC. If you do not have a current APC on 1 October 2017, you must cease practice until such time as an APC is issued to you.
