Recertification programme
The Council set a new recertification programme for all registered oral health practitioners on 12 April 2021.
The new programme starts:
- from 1 October 2021 for dentists and dental specialists
- from 1 April 2022 for oral health therapists, dental hygienists, dental therapists, orthodontic auxiliaries, dental technicians and clinical dental technicians.
Handbook
Your recertification programme handbook is a one-stop guide to the new programme. It sets out what you need to do and why you need to do it. It includes guidance, decision tools, templates and examples.
The handbook details each step and requirement of the new programme and includes a questions and answers section.

It's your recertification programme and the Council encourages you to use whatever templates suit you.
To get you started we have prepared some sample templates that you can download, edit and save on your own computer:

Step by step guides for online services
We have extended our online services to include your recertification programme.

From 8 July 2021, dentists and dental specialists will be able to nominate their peer online.
In early 2022, we will advise oral health therapists, dental hygienists, dental therapists, orthodontic auxiliaries, dental technicians and clinical dental technicians when they should nominate their peer online.
