Update to COVID-19 alert level changes and updated guidelines

The government has announced Auckland will remain at Alert Level 4 — the rest of NZ will move to Alert Level 2 at 11:59pm on 7 September 2021.

This will be reviewed on 13 September 2021.

Updated Alert Level 2 guidelines are available here.

Alert Level 4

Dental Council is working with the Ministry of Health on what provision of care can be safely provided under Alert Levels 4 and 3. We will update practitioners as soon as we have confirmation from the Minister of any changes appropriate to the provision of oral health care under these Alert Levels.

Within the COVID-19 public health response, practitioners have an ongoing obligation to ensure oral health services continue to be delivered safely to the public, and to minimise risks to yourself and your staff.

Alert Level 2

The Alert Level 2 guidelines have been updated to include the key change to the provision of all oral health care. It also includes the updated patient risk assessment questions, PPE, room and stand down time requirements added most recently to the Alert Level 3 and 4 guidelines (refer Appendix 4 for details).

Practitioners should also note two additional updates:

  • masks or face coverings are required to be worn by patients, staff and contractors in the practice, beyond the required PPE during clinical activities.
  • the New Zealand COVID Tracer QR code must be displayed, and people must scan in or register their contact details at the practice entrance.

Kia noho haumaru, stay safe.
