Change to mouthwash requirements in COVID-19 guidelines

Our clinical advisory group continues to monitor COVID-19 developments locally and internationally. 

To date, there is no evidence on the efficacy of mouthwash to mitigate viral or COVID-19 transmission during dental treatments. In the absence of strong evidence, the use of pre-procedural mouth rinse as a measure to reduce contamination of aerosol and splatter when performing aerosol generating procedures, has been removed from the joint Ministry of Health/Council Guidelines for oral health services across all four COVID-19 alert levels. 

New versions of the guidelines without the provision have been uploaded to the Council website
