Accreditation reviews

The Council completed two accreditation reviews over the last few months. The Council thanks the site evaluation team members and the programme providers for their constructive engagement with the accreditation process. 

The outcomes of the reviews are:

University of Otago postgraduate programmes

The following programmes were granted accreditation until 31 December 2028:

  • Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (endodontics)
  • Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (oral pathology)
  • Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (oral surgery)
  • Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (orthodontics)
  • Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (paediatric dentistry)
  • Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (periodontology)
  • Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (prosthodontics)
  • Master of Community Dentistry
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dental Technology, subject to programme specific conditions.

Conditions common to all the accredited programmes must be met within defined timeframes.

The DClinDent (oral and maxillofacial surgery) programme did not request re-accreditation, and the DClinDent (oral medicine) and DClinDent (special needs dentistry) programmes withdrew from this accreditation review. These programmes’ current accreditation expires on 31 December 2023, and their accreditation will be end-dated accordingly.

New Zealand Association of Orthodontists Orthodontic Auxiliary Training Programme

The NZAO Orthodontic Auxiliary Training Programme was granted accreditation until 31 December 2028, subject to meeting some conditions within the defined timeframes.
